Push-ups help your chest to be stimulated. They provide a workout for your upper body, your core and to a lesser extent your lower body as well. This helps create a stronger body overall, that is more resistant to injury.

Sit-ups or crunches help to strengthen and firm up the rectus abdominous muscles more commonly known as the six-pack. Exercising this muscle regularly can help to improve your posture and make the stomach appear flat.

Squats help to build your leg muscles including your quadriceps hamstrings and calves, but they also an anabolic environment which promotes body-wide muscle building. They can help you improve both your upper and lower body strength.

Jumping jacks may not result in bodybuilding legs but they do enhance both flexibility and tone. They work the calves, glutes, deltoids and gracilis muscles. The muscle fibers are strengthened and fat deposits decreased for more visibly toned muscles.

Wall sit is done to strengthen the quadriceps. They assist the gluts with hip extension and also work to flex the knee during the downward motion. The quadriceps are responsible for extending your knees as you return to standing position. Your core muscles also work during the wall squat to support and stabilize your upper body.
