Stress is a feeling of strain and pressure. Also, this is one type of psychological pain. Small amounts of stress may be desired, beneficial, and even healthy. Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worrying. These disorders affect how we feel and behave and can cause physical symptoms. Depression, on the other hand, is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behavior, feelings, and sense of well-being.

Negative effects of stress.

Risk of a heart attack. Over time, an increased rate and high blood pressure damage your arteries, which could lead to a heart attack.

Fertility problem. Stress interferes with the reproductive system in both male and female and may make it harder to conceive.

Insomnia. Stress makes it harder to fall asleep and fall asleep which leads to insomnia.

Weakened immune system. Long-term experience of stress weakens your immune system's defenses, leaving you more vulnerable to infections.



Negative effects of anxiety

Increased risk of stroke. The constant release of flight or fight hormones increases risks to the heart. Research indicates that middle-aged men with symptoms of psychological distress are more than three times as likely to have a fatal stroke.

Early memory decline. Anxiety can cause long-term damage to hippo campus cells, which affect the memory and learning. As a result, anxiety can lead to early memory decline, especially in elderly patients suffering from anxiety and/ or depression.

Inability to concentrate. When is unable to concentrate on whatever he/she is doing or being told. This is quite dangerous since all thoughts are directed to some unreasonable situations.

The detrimental impact of emotional distraction. Anxiety can cause a lack of concentration, can lead to low performance at school or work as well as an inability to maintain relationships with their family and friends.

Negative effects of depressions.

Suicidal thoughts. Having thoughts of death and suicide are some of the symptoms of depression. If left untreated, these thoughts can get worse.

Addiction to drugs. Some of the people suffering depression often think that combining alcohol and other drug use helps reduce depression. The truth is that it will worsen the situation and must be stopped immediately and one should seek medical attention.

Reckless behavior. When people are feeling hopeless, angry or bad about themselves, they are less likely to care of themselves and think about the consequences of their actions. Often depressed individuals may put themselves in risky situations with potentially dangerous consequences like driving drunk.

The above negative effects can be remedied by taking the following into consideration:

  • Eating well-balanced meals

One should not skip meals and always keep healthy, energy-boosting snacks on hand.

  • Get enough sleep

When stressed, your body needs additional sleep and rest. It’s advisable to sleep for 8 hours per night.

  • Exercise daily

Exercises usually help you to feel good and maintain your health.

  • Limit alcohol and caffeine

Alcohol and caffeine can aggregate anxiety and stress and trigger panic attack. Instead, one should drink a lot of water.


In conclusion, health and intellect are the two blessing of life, while anxiety, stress and depression are streams of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, they cut a short channel into which all other thoughts are drained.
